SOLD Aquarium Fantasy Pet! by Wood-Splitter-Lee SOLD Aquarium Fantasy Pet! by Wood-Splitter-Lee

Aquarium Fantasy Pet!

This one of a kind, original piece of artwork is being offered up for bid!  I hand sculpted and painted this adorable little creature and installed him suspended inside of this synthetic aquarium to appear as though he is floating in water!  The plant flower stalks are synthetic but the bedding is real moss that has been treated to last forever in its current wonderful quality.

I do not use molds, casts or patterns, each is fully hand made!

The critter itself is so cute! I love the patterns and colors.

RE: Looking like it has water/bubbles:

With this one having a lid you could suspend a string of glass beads on invisible fishing wire to imitate bubbles and maybe other little swimming critters. Alternatively you could mold a top of  "surface water" that sits just below the lip of open ones/or:

in a separate chamber of the jar wall if you are able to get something to suit (think of the 'fake wine in a glass' trick that looks like you have a drink but it is only an illusion). Look in novelty bar accessory shops for possible examples.

I love this little guy and the habitat design a lot. It's really unique and creative, and he's so cute! I wonder if there's a way to make it really appear as if water's in the jar even more, like what daaku-no-tenshi was talking about? :?

I like how the top of the jar and the addition of the lid gives it the illusion of the surface of water, I wonder if that was intended? ;)

I love these little 'jar' pets you make. I'm not sure if there's some way that you can make bubbles somehow, to further give the illusion of the little creature being under water. Or even filling the entire jar with some sort of clear plastic, or acrylic, and adding bubbles that way? I liken it a bit to those preserved insects that you can buy set into "glass" or whatever it is.

I think if you could somehow pull that off I'd be like TAKE MY MONEEEYYYY

I had seriously considered filling the jar with a clear substance that would harden.  But what I could find, all of the random objects I tested it on turned the clear liquid a bit yellow!  So in time, until I finally succeed on a test run!

Yes, I was thinking that might happen. And any that may be available that MIGHT dry clear... Might have to go in hot. :c I don't know. I do, however, think it's an excellent idea and well worth looking into. It would also prove to preserve your worth that much better and would make the whole structure more solidified.

Ive seen some people (maybe even you? Not sure) make little "fish ponds" and crystals and stuff using a clear substance that would pass as water. They seemed to use the same materials you have, so maybe whatever they're using would work for you too! :D

I await a time that you successfully manage this. One of these little fishy guys in a jar, looking all surrounded by "water"... That'd make my day. Especially if you took commissions on the design of your little monsters.

Looking forward with anticipation! X3
